Your First Visit

Your first appointment allows time to understand your health history and begin developing a personalized treatment plan.

Before your appointment
You will be asked to complete intake forms about your health history, symptoms, medications, and lifestyle.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment
Eat a light meal or snack before your visit.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing if possible.
Bring a list of medications or supplements you are taking.
Plan to arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in and relax before treatment.

During the visit
Your appointment will include a detailed discussion of your current concerns and overall health. Your current symptoms may not seem related to past health issues, but our bodies are complex landscapes and everything that happens leaves its' imprint.    Traditional East Asian medicine assessment methods, such as pulse and tongue observation, will also be used.

Treatment
In most cases, your first visit will include acupuncture. The acupuncture points I choose will depend on your condition, but you can expect approximately 10-20 needles. Once the needles are inserted, I will leave you to lie comfortably for 15-20 minutes with the needles in place. Modifications for those who are needle sensitive can easily be made. Many people find acupuncture treatment deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during this time.Your visit may also include initial recommendations related to herbs, nutrition, or lifestyle support.

Next steps
At the end of the appointment, we will discuss a treatment plan and recommendations for follow-up care.
